Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actor. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's father, was first seen on stage in the role of Flora McGrath. For this role she received an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of 11. The actress is second-youngest winner in Oscar the history of Oscars. Anna Paquin's full title is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was an Canadian native New Zealand actress. As as a young girl, she was awarded an Academy Award for best support actress. Her performance as the empathetic and curious character Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the award. After an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter of a Scottish piano player. Flora McGrath is the child of a mute Scottish musician who came to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. In her teens she emigrated from New Zealand to United States. Paquin started her acting career in the midst of her childhood with a part as the Jane Eyre main character in the Franco Zeffirelli novel Jane Eyre as well as she played a significant role in Fly Away Home. Paquin had a small role in the TV film of 1997 version of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding. The actress also played the Queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (2007). The actress played teenagers on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) and Almost Famous (2000). In addition, she portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa.
