April Ross

April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball athletes to win medals at least twice in an Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman, a first-time Olympian. Ross is hoping to secure the Olympic the first medal of gold, but she's also hoping to earn greater. It could be the last opportunity she gets as she is 39 years old. Her optimism is that she can achieve top honors. Ross said on NBC Boston that if they play their best, or even a good game and they are able to play well, the team could win a gold medal. Also, it's the result of luck. Ross born August 22, 1982, in Costa Mesa California. She resided in the area along with her entire family. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. She was a basketball player and also ran the track as well as her volleyball skills in the indoors as a prep athlete. In her final game she was clearly the standout. Through her high school years, she was a middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court as per her bio at the college. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her as the National Player 1999. The year 2000 was the time she received her the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been performing their roles in 2017. But, Ross was a major player on the beach volleyball circuit before joining the duo. As a matter of fact Ross has been a winner of several major tournaments in her career along with her two teammates. One of them is a volleyball legend. From 2007 to 2013, she was partnered with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who took home the title of world champion with Kessy in 2009 was also a major force on an international level. The duo won silver at London's Olympics. They were knocked out of the gold medal by the legendary team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). The fate of the matter was that Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. They both won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics of 2016. After high school and many years before hitting the sand professionally, Ross played to the Trojans at USC while an NCAA. It was a successful career for Ross in the university. The year 2000 was her freshman year. saw her earn the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of the Year awards and be an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans get to the Final Four. Her personal life was tense after a devastating loss during her sophomore year, yet was capable of achieving the All-American distinction. The last two years as a member of the Trojans' program the team was led to success by winning two the national title in consecutive years. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend having won the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross studied International Relations at USC. Margie Ross did not get to see her daughter's climb to fame as a beach volleyball player. Ross's mom Margie passed away in 2001 when Ross was a USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. She continues to cherish her mother who died. Also, Margie remains a source of encouragement for her on the beach and in the world of.
